Skid Tech

ECI is committed to delivering comprehensive solutions.

Combining technical expertise, world-class products, project management and fabrication capabilities produces turn-key results tailored to customer specifications. There are many applications where process control technology alone is not enough. ECI can deliver the right resources and support in a manner that is not only effective, but helps you meet your goals.

Custom process control skids offer a complete solution.

There is a long path from valve selection to efficient production. The delivery of a production-ready skid that is customized to your application can greatly increase your operational efficiency.

Turnkey Skid Solutions

ECI’s Skid Technologies team creates and builds process control skids in our own facility and takes ownership of each skid project. From understating your needs and planning for a custom skid to valve sizing, wiring, assembly and testing, we offer a turnkey solution.

Drawing from ECI’s breadth of products, technical expertise and fabrication services, each skid is developed and built in-house. Our ISO:9001 certified facility adheres to strict quality and safety standards. ECI offers market leading valves and instrumentation and employs certified ASME section IX pipe welders and AWS D1.1 structural welders, and technicians who understand industry standards. Our on-site robotic welder improves turn-around time. Control and electrical panels are built and tested in our own UL 508A certified panel shop.

High quality and precision are maintained for every skid because we control every step of the process. This single source of accountability not only simplifies the process for our customers but elevates the level of customization.

Custom Applications

An effective skid is one that is developed specifically for the user’s application and operating conditions. ECI’s approach to skid building starts and ends with the customer’s individual needs. Custom skids address a range of applications including:

  • Pressure Regulation
  • Metering
  • Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT)
  • Truck Loading/Unloading
  • Water Treatment/Purification
  • Stainless Steel Oxygen
  • Combustion Gas
  • Nitrogen Control for the Steel Industry
  • Oil and Gas Industry Operations

We consider each skid its own unique ecosystem. Valve automation requirements, fluid handling, the environment where the skid will be located, hazardous area classifications, controls and other factors are considered early in the process. A thorough understanding of the final application and customer specifications, along with a P&ID will start our engineers and technicians on the path to your new skid.

Seamless Project Management

The complexities of a complete skid solution are expertly managed by an ECI project manager who will ensure that the project is delivered as promised and on schedule. Comprehensive documentation, from initial drawings to testing, is prepared by our project managers throughout the process. Ongoing coordination and communication between the engineers, technicians, product experts and manufacturers are driven through this single point of contact to ensure that everyone is working to meet one goal – customer satisfaction.

Lifecycle Service and Support

ECI’s technicians are available for installation and commissioning. Post installation, ECI’s technicians also provide the support and service needed to ensure your operations are seamless. The lifecycle and reliability of the skid and all its components is directly tied to ongoing service and preventative maintenance. ECI’s field technicians are highly skilled and available to lead that effort.

Tested to Ensure Operational Excellence

Every skid undergoes rigorous testing. This includes the requested or required testing to meet customer specifications including welding and hydro tests, and hydrostatic and pneumatic testing with NIST traceable instrumentation. Testing also includes third-party radiographic, magnetic particle and liquid penetration weld inspection in addition to our in-house certified welding inspector. The final testing phase is the Factory Acceptance Test. Conducted with the customer, either on site or remotely, the factory acceptance test ensures all equipment and every aspect of the skid meets both manufacturer and customer standards and functions in accordance with the customer’s requirements. With an acute understanding of product functionality and precise attention to detail, ECI’s skids exceed quality expectations.

High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems

Highly specialized applications such as high integrity pressure protection systems are often part of our skid specifications. Emerson’s best-in-class actuators, valves, controllers, transmitters and process safety systems, combined with our HIPPS experience, delivers the pressure protection you need for safe operations. ECI tests and verifies the safety integrity levels and provides the ongoing support and service needed to maintain and safely operate your system. HIPPS solutions comply with:

  • Safety Integrity Levels
  • IEC 61508
  • IEC 61511

ECI can support you during the frequent proof tests to maintain the Safety Integrity Levels, following the proof test procedure.
